Executive Leadership Team
Teen Challenge of Texas is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a board of seasoned directors who volunteer their many years of leadership experience to ensure that the organization is run efficiently, while maintaining focus on our mission statement.

Dr. George M. Thomas
President and Chief Executive Officer
George M. Thomas is President and CEO of Teen Challenge of Texas. George began as a volunteer in New England almost 7 years ago - eventually serving the Connecticut program in administrative, teaching, and counseling capacities for 2 years. During this time, he was licensed as an AG minister and helped birth an inner-city, “Teen Challenge church” near the New Haven campus. In 2006, George became the business administrator for Teen Challenge USA in Springfield, MO. He earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. For his dissertation, George authored the Teen Challenge USA Best Practices Manual. With a passion to reach the 1.5 million drug and alcohol addicts in his home state of Texas, George joined Teen Challenge of Texas in June 2009. George’s spiritual gifts are teaching and administration and he finds the following traits as essential to working at Teen Challenge: dependence upon God, commitment to students, and ability to operate in a team environment.
George earned his bachelor of science, majoring in Biology and Christianity, from Houston Baptist University. In 1999, he earned his Masters in Business Administration at University of Houston, concentrating in accounting and subsequently working as an accountant for various Fortune 500 companies in Houston prior to joining Teen Challenge. He and his wife Dolly, along with three daughters, live in San Antonio. |

Rodney Daniels
Vice-President
Rodney became associated with Teen Challenge in 1999 when his job allowed him to work closely with Teen Challenge students and staff. After watching his son-in-law graduate from the program, Rodney became even more passionate about Teen Challenge. God began leading Rodney toward serving Teen Challenge of Texas full-time, and he left a management career with a large international company in 2007 to answer God’s call. Rodney’s love for teaching the Bible, along with expertise in administration and staff training have proven to be mission-critical over the last 3 years. Rodney is pursuing and will soon be a licensed Assembly of God minister.
Rodney attended Oklahoma City University and majored in Accounting, Mathematics, and Business Management. Rodney has over 25 years of management experience with large international companies. He and his wife Rhonda live in the Houston area.

Pam Umstead
Development & Public Relations
Pam comes to Teen Challenge with a passion to encourage everyone to participate in what God is doing here. Her younger son Lee graduated from San Antonio Teen Challenge in 2006; during his 13-month program, she and her husband Dave fell in love with the ministry and wished they lived closer so they could volunteer. Eventually they sold their business and home, moved into an RV, and made it happen. Pam’s gifts include a steadfast faith, joy, and organization. “We may be classified as retired, but we’ll never retire from His business! There’s nothing we’d rather be doing than supporting Teen Challenge – we are blessed to watch Him work miracles in students’ lives every day.”
Pam was born in Texas, and raised in Ohio. She earned a BS in Business & Economics from Purdue University. She and Dave settled in his home state of Virginia. Her experiences in development and public relations stem from owning and operating an AM/FM radio station for 8 years, founding and growing an advertising distribution service for 19 years, and serving as a charter member, leader and facilitator in their church. Their older son Scott went to Heaven after a 36-year battle with MPS; Lee and his wife Kayce are both graduates of Teen Challenge and served several years on staff.
