Programs for Families

Many strong marriages have been destroyed by substance abuse, whether through illegal drug use or alcohol abuse. Often, the problem is a shared struggle. Teen Challenge recognizes the need for whole-family treatment and offers programs for married couples, including families with children. Couples and children entering the Life Care program receive specialized care with marriage and relationship counseling, parental training, with adult education classes for parents and A Beka® Academy for on-site children's education.

Core Adult Services

Life Care

  • Residential dormitory-style living
  • Accepts individuals 18 to 65
  • Twenty-four hour supervision (excluding medical appointments, court appearances, or passes)
  • GED Program
  • Other educational programs (varies by campus)
  • Vocational training (varies by campus)
  • Random urinalysis testing
  • Individualized aftercare planning
  • Specialized programs addressing gender-specific, behavioral, and abuse issues

For Families & Single Parents

  • On-campus child care and recreation facilities
  • A Beka® Academy curriculum for child education
  • Christian Parenting Courses
  • Marriage & relationship support
  • Apartment-style living for parents and children (when available during last phase)
  • For Court-Appointed Residents

    • Community-service equivalency hours
    • Case management / probation & court services
    • Scheduled urinalysis testing

Participants in the Life Care program follow the same schedule as single participants without children. Parents are separated during the first phase of the program and are given opportunities to spend quality time together with their children. Parents eat meals with their children and sit together during chapel, church services, and other events. Children live with one parent during the first phase. All parents share the role in attending to all of the children on campus.

During the second phase, families are reunited, with both parents and their children moving to a private room for families only. Apartment-style living quarters are allocated later in the second phase. Availability is limited.
